This update is also compatible with the HALion Symphonic Orchestra trial version that ships with Cubase 5!ĭepending on the provided version of the Syncrosoft License Control Center on your Halion Symphonic Orchestra DVD you might recieve the following error message when starting the installation: "There are other activated processes which disturb the installation process. Projects created with HALion Symhonic Orchestra 1.5 cannot be loaded by prior versions. But of course HALion Symphonic Orchestra 1.5 can load projects that have been created with older versions. It can be used natively in 64 bit sequencers like Cubase 5 or Cubase Studio 5 in order to make use of the enhanced memory address space.įor information on further improvements and installation notes please refer to the document " What's new in HALion Syphonic Orchestra 1.5".
Though it's pretty tough sometimes to get people to comment on pieces around here , if you ask for comments the knowledgable people will usually help out. This update provides 64 Bit support for Windows 7 64 Bit. My ultimate suggestion would be to post an example of what you're trying to do. Also, Theo has his TKT script that illiminates the machine gun effect. With a little work it will sound pretty natural. Seems to me that the round robin mechanism is a little sluggish for fast passages so splitting the groups up works well.Īlso, if you do a search for a kontakt script called "SIPS" Theo Kreuger has a legato preset that actually does fast passages rather well imo. By deleting one of the groups I set up the up bow on one midi channel then the down bow on another. You have to balance the patches just right and that seems to work.įor arco fast passages I've actually done well with the quick up and and down patches. For fast slurred 16th notes I have had some success by layering a stacc patch with a sustain patch and also a tremelo patch. If you want to stick to EW then there's lots of different things you can do. SISS has good short strings that can be used for fast passages. The only decent thing about Halion is that from the demos it had decent short string articulations, but I wouldn't recommend the library just for that. Yes the Presto string passages are hard on EWQLSO samples. But my feeling is that you can get a lot of mileage out of EWQLSO Platinum if you take the time to learn it and address the requirements of the library by building an array of PCs built to run it all for you in real-time rather than rendering parts. If you're looking for a solid string library I would steer you towards Sonic Implants Symphonic Strings (SISS) rather than Halion - just a personal choice. Expecting a single computer to handle all the power requirements of full Platinum version to duplicate the same performance of demos that have were created on a computer farm of 4-5 PCs is going to lead to a let-down imo. Unless you've planned workarounds for the extra hit on computer resources you may be in for a disappointment.
It's recommended also to run EWQLSO Platinum on more than one computer to get the full benefit. Personally I think EW Platinum is an excellent library. Regarding your problem, explain exactly what you're doing to get the sluggish problem (what mic positions specifically.) Just a guess but on very fast passages you may be experiencing cascading release trails (where the release trail from the previous note couples with the following, etc etc.) You may be running out of polyphony on these fast runs since you're running Platinum on a single computer? On these type passages you may do better with close mics (perhaps blending them very lightly with the others?) to sidestep some of the release trail issues. Welcome to VI! I have to disagree with you though regarding on the guys at soundsonline forum - many there have been helpful and knowledgeable especially with EW specific questions.
